A Dream or A Memory is a juried, all-media exhibition of artwork exploring the realm of the subconscious. Artwork may deal with themes of dreams, memories, and fantasies.

Exhibition Juror: Anita Jung

Anita Jung is an associate professor at the University of Iowa. She previously taught printmaking, drawing, and installation courses at Illinois State University, Ohio University, and University of Tennessee. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Arizona State University where she majored in painting + drawing. The Master of Fine Arts was awarded to her from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she worked with Bill Weegee as a pritner at Off Jones Road and Tandem Press. She has been involved with Mid-America Print Council (MAPC) and Southern Graphics Council (SGC) for many years as a participant, officer, and host. She has also participated in the international IMPACT printmaking conferences in Posnan, Berlin, and Tailinn. In 2005, she had a residency at the renowned Proyecto'ace atelier in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where the work and exhibition Cuentos de Hadas (Fairytale) took place. Her works of art have been exhibited throughout the United States in juried, invitational, and solo exhibitions.Please click here for more information about Anita Jung and her work. 

Awards and Prizes

Cash prizes will be awarded by the juror.
  • $300 - Peggy and Harold Bunting Memorial Prize
  • $200 - Nancy Pomery Ruhoff Prize
  • $100 - Paul Pettengale Memorial Prize
  • $50 - Edmund H. Wuerpel Prize
  • $50 - Everleen Witham Memorial Prize
Artwork Requirements
  • Artist must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Up to three entries may be submitted.
  • Originals (not copied from other art).
  • Completed within the last two years.
  • Not shown previously in the St. Louis Artists' Guild's galleries.
  • Works should be priced and marked for sale or not for sale (NFS). If not for sale, please include an insurance value.
  • 2-D: Shall not exceed image size of 72" x 84"  and 30 lbs. Diptychs and triptychs which exceed maximum size limitations for a single entry will be considered as two or three entries depending on total size.
  • Hanging work should have wire and screw eyes, French cleats, or other professional hanging devices. No saw-tooth hangers. No clip frames.
  • Canvases must be framed or gallery-wrapped.
  • 3-D: Must not exceed 85" h x 35" w  50" d and 100 lbs.
  • Installations will be considered with detailed instructions.
  • Video and other works that require electricity - artist must provide cords, projectors, and any/all equipment needed to display work.
  • The St. Louis Artists' Guild has the right to reject any work that is unstable, unusually fragile, or does not meet the above requirements.
