Beers Contemporary Award for Emerging Art ABOUT THE AWARD Beers Contemporary announces the launch of its annual Award for Emerging Art. Now in its second year, the prize is awarded to 8 artists working in any discipline and open internationally. Unlike other awards that present one winner with a lump monetary sum, Beers Contemporary aims to assist as many artists as possible, and applicants are judged against others working within their respective artistic discipline. Two persons will be awarded from each of the following practices: painting and drawing; photography and other two-dimensional work; sculpture and installation; as well as video, other media, and forms that defy classification. The award was devised as a method to recognize outstanding achievement and/or promise in the arts. The award is intended to give back to the artistic community by rewarding emerging artists regardless of age, gender, ethnic background and/or geographical location. The award will be given to artists who can be seen as shaping the direction of cont emporary art by considering criteria such as progression, innovation, and excellence in their work and practice. $6,000 IN AWARDS By way of open call and juried selection, the award will be given to 2 artists working within each discipline. Four winners in each field will receive a monetary prize of $1000, and four second-place winners will each receive $500. ELIGIBILITY Artists worldwide, at any career-stage may submit. ARTWORK All media is accepted, including all traditional and non-traditional media and practices. Artists may submit up to 4 images. There is no maximum-pixel height/width to images. There are no restrictions to size or otherwise for work submitted for exhibition. Artists working in video or time-based media can submit 4 video stills, and post a CD with video works (edited to under 10 minutes in length) to: AWARD OPEN CALL, Beers Contemporary, 1 Baldwin Street, London EC1V9NU. Performance artists may submit work with appropriate photographic documentation or video (as above). FORMS All forms can be submitted directly on the online application at http://www.beerscontemporary.com/opencall Please do not e-mail information to the gallery, as all submissions must be made online. FEE There is a processing fee of £10 to submit - you do not need a PayPal account and credit card is accepted on PayPal. DEADLINE & RESULTS The deadline for applications is Sunday, 15 December 2013, midnight local time. While results will be sent by email to each applicant, we cannot ensure that all applicants are receiving pertinent information. Applicants should make note of important dates and visit the site at those times; it remains the applicant's responsibility to check the site after January 1 2014 when results will be posted online.
