In one of the Southern Graphics conferences I met Kristen Martincic and I felt in love with her work because of her sense of humor  and her craftsmanship. She is a printmaker from Missouri where Kristen has her studio.

How does a recent graduate navigate through making a living and being an artist? How does one continue making prints and find alternative access to studio space, equipment and time? Is the adjunct position a viable way to enter academia for those who want to teach? What are alternative careers and freelance jobs that support the creative entrepreneur?

Image size: 300 dpi, 9 x 12 inches. Include a brief biography (100 words) and color head shot.

MFA program at Bowling Green State University

The School of Art at Bowling Green State University is now accepting applications for graduate study in our two-year MFA program. We have a small program with approximately 20 graduate students in studio art and art history, allowing for individual and small group interaction with faculty and peers across the School. Prospective students are admitted within 2D Studies (2D encompasses the areas of Printmaking, Drawing, Painting and Photography). Students are encouraged to individualize their degree program with in-depth study within their chosen medium or with interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary options, including the possibility of work in Mixed Media, 3D or Digital media.  For students interested primarily in printmaking, our facilities accommodate traditional and non-traditional print processes in lithography, intaglio, relief, and screenprint.  Within the School of Art, lab facilities are also available in Digital Arts, Sculpture, Ceramics, Metals, Glass, Painting, Drawing, and Photography. Laser cutting, large format printing and 3d printing are also available. In addition to our curriculum, the School of Art hosts an active visiting artist program across the disciplines. Recent visiting artists in printmaking have included: Anita Jung, Sean Caulfield, Johanna Mueller, Koichi Yamamoto, Meghan O’Connor, Erik Waterkotte.

Our graduate students form a tight community.  Graduate students have the opportunity for involvement in GASO (Graduate Art Student Organization), GSS (Graduate Student Senate), 2DAA (2D Artists Association), and The Print Society (the print club), the latter of which is an active group of printmaking graduate/undergraduate students who participate in group exhibitions, conferences, workshops, portfolio exchanges, and other professional activities.

Please see our website for a detailed explanation of the printmaking facilities and other studio resources throughout the School: http://art.bgsu.edu/degrees/undergraduate/facilities.cfm?m=printmaking&link=degrees&sublink=undergraduate&sublink2=2d.
