SGC PANELS AND DEMONSTRATIONS
Hi Everyone,
The first videos of the SGC panels and demonstrations that were held
at the Tyler School of Art, Temple University are now available for
viewing at:

Thanks to our panelists and demonstrators for sharing their work with
us. The videos will give you a good idea of the material covered as
they are not edited, you will see people milling around but as the
demos and panels get started everyone quiets down.

MFA _ CONCENTRATION IN PRINTMAKING
The School of Art and Design (SoAD) at East Carolina University (ECU)
is seeking graduate students for the Masters of Fine Arts (MFA)
program with a concentration in Printmaking. The MFA at ECU is a

MFA _ CONCENTRATION IN PRINTMAKING
The School of Art and Design (SoAD) at East Carolina University (ECU)
is seeking graduate students for the Masters of Fine Arts (MFA)
program with a concentration in Printmaking. The MFA at ECU is a
60-hour degree program and typically completed over three-years.
The MFA Printmaking curriculum is both professional and diverse,
allowing for technical explorations in several processes within the
printmaking area in addition to considerations for the other twelve
areas within the school. The printmaking area is located on the bottom
floor in the Leo Jenkins Fine Art Center. The Art Center is a
prominent fixture on ECU’s main campus and serves primarily as a
studio-based environment and also includes several lecture halls for
art history and art education. The building includes facilities that
range from well equipped computer labs to active foundries, from
faculty offices to the media center, from a wood firing kiln to smart
classrooms, all represented by the large, recently renovated Grey
Gallery that serves as a teaching a gallery with a rotating exhibition
schedule. The Jenkins Fine Arts Center host nearly 600 undergraduate
and 50 graduate students in 14 concentrations. The printmaking studio
area occupies seven (7) dedicated rooms for investigations, processes,
image development, printing, and general studio practices relating to
traditional and contemporary approaches to printmaking.

The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities is accepting applications for the MFA program in printmaking.
We have an interdisciplinary program with great new print studios, teaching assistantships, scholarships and travel opportunities. Our expansive state-of-the art facilities feature a dedicated area for graduate students and guaranteed TA and teaching opportunities. We have an active print club and strong visiting artist program and we will be hosting the MAPC print conference "New World / Old World" in Fall, 2010.

The KBAC is a federally recognized nonprofit organization, founded by a collective of local artists and writers who have joined together to create a community workshop and educational center to further book design and its related arts: fine printmaking, papermaking, bookbinding, and creative writing. SKETCHING at the BROOKS
Masterpieces from Museo de Arte de Ponce will be opening up to the public October 3. This is an outstanding exhibition and also a great opportunity for people to sketch in the galleries.
The Brooks allows sketching at all times, but not that many people take advantage of it. I would love to see the galleries, specially where Masterpieces will be installed filled with people sketching.
I have organized an opening weekend celebration for the exhibition Oct.3 and 4. I would like you to encourage your students to come to the Brooks to sketch Saturday, Oct.3 and Sunday, Oct.4. anytime between 11 am - 2 pm. We will provide stools. Very important: ONLY #2 Lead pencil is allowed, and a maximum size pad of 12 x 18. Other materials such as pastels, charcoals, paint, etc will not be allowed.
Since I don't know how big the response will be, please tell your students that if they are coming on that weekend, that they should sign up online at www.brooksmuseum.org/sketching. This will be very helpful to us so we know how many people to expect during this time period and we can be ready with stools.
Thank you and I hope you truly encourage your students to participate. Students who sign up online and are coming to sketch during that weekend and those times will receive FREE ADMISSION.
