POSITION:
PRINTMAKER, PART-TIME LECTURER, TEMPORARY FACULTY: The Department of Art invites applications for a part-time, temporary faculty position at the rank of Lecturer. The instructor appointed to this position will teach lower and upper division studio art courses in printmaking. This position is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding. This is a part-time academic appointment for courses in the Fall & Spring Semesters 2012-13.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
MFA degree or equivalent with advanced experience & training in fine arts printmaking methods and materials, and with expertise in Intaglio, Lithography, and Serigraphy. Knowledge and experience with the imaging options of Computer and Photography based technologies and their applications in combination with printmaking. Requires knowledge and experience of studio equipment and safety protocols, as instructor/supervisor in a teaching workshop environment. Applicant must have a strong commitment to teaching with demonstrated competence and experience at the university level.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Teaching experience beyond graduate assistantship is preferred. Consideration will be enhanced by providing evidence of: significant professional printmaking practice and recognition; experience with professional printmaking facilities in fine arts venues and with fine arts production and print editions.

The Biennial is open to any engraver and entry into the competition is free.
Each artist can enter the competition only with one work completed after January 1st, 2011, in compliance with the principle of originality stated by the “Declaration of Milan” in 1994. The work must neither have had, until that time, a regular run, nor have been exhibited in any other Prize competition or public event. The work must be printed on a sheet of minimum size 250x350 mm and not exceeding 500x700 mm size. All works outsize won’t be accepted and they won’t be returned to sender. Works can’t be in a frame or in a passe-partout. The University of Alaska Anchorage is hosting our 27th Annual No Big Heads (NBH) exhibition in late October. NBH is a national juried self-portrait competition of limited size: works must be no larger than 12 inches by 12 inches in any direction. NBH welcomes all types of media and prints of all nature. This year's juror, David Kassan, is a prominent realist portrait artist from Brooklyn, New York.
This is a great opportunity for upcoming artists to have a chance to participate in a juried show. We have some outstanding prizes, such as a $1,000 cash prize along with a summer solo exhibition for the Best of Show.
